PNPECU has developed the Motronic 1.3 solution to satisfy customer requests to allow the motronic 1.3 engines to be fully controlled

Adapter extra connector information

Motronic 1.3 OEM Sensors Usage

  • Pre CAT Lambda sensor are not used - but can be wired if needed
  • Torque converter clutch active switch - not wired
  • AFM is monitored and can be used - usually removed, the adapter harness for new air temp sensor makes it unusable


  • AC signals from vehicle - used as OEM
  • Automatic torque reduction - used as OEM
  • Automatic Park or Neutral - used as OEM
  • A/C Compressor active - used as OEM
  • Crank sensor - used as OEM
  • Narrowband lambda sensor - wired but wideband is suggested for tuning
  • Coolant temperature - used as OEM
  • Air temp sensor - used as OEM, new air temp sensor usually replaces the oem air temp sensor as it´s fitted inside the AFM.
  • TPS sensors - fit M50 TPS, no additional wiring required, if the car is automatic TPS signal for transmission controller must be wired to the adapter, ECU will then use it for TPS same for EML vehicles.

Cyl 6 spark signal - wired as cam signal, can be replaced by a cam sensor.

  • Vehicle Speed Sensor Rear Right - used as OEM

  • Ignition coil wiring - stock coil supported, wasted spark dumb coils supported.
  • Tachometer signal
  • Fuel pump relay
  • Idle control valve
  • Main relay
  • Econometer
  • Check engine light
  • EVAP Valve


CAN BUS Compatibility

Motronic 1.3 cars never had any CANBUS, the LPC4 CANBUS allows for near endless expansion.

LPC4 has higly versatile CANBUS system, discuss your requirements with PNPECU if you are unsure.


Options at ordering

Not everyone is going to need or want the same thing with their ECU conversion.

  • LPC4 with expansion board: 8 Analog inputs are spare, 2 Digital input are spare, 2 Low side outputs are spare, CAN1 is spare, 2 Injector outputs are spare, 1 coil output is spare.
