PNPECU has developed the S62 solution to satisfy customer requests to allow the S62 engine to be operated.

Transmission compatibility



This is a complicated subject as at the time of writing there are solutions for external control of DCT, 6HP and 8HP transmissions out of BMWs, at the same time MaxxECU provides it´s standardized can bus output which multiple transmission controllers are able to make use of for just about any transmission out there.

what this means is that the BMW TCU believes it´s listening and talking to an OEM BMW DME.
The MaxxECU is not directly controlling the transmission but sending and receiving signals that emulate the BMW DME.

MaxxECU is working on adding other BMW transmissions to the emulation compatibility list.

S62 OEM Sensors Usage




• Post cat sensors are not used
• Knock sensors for cyl 3-4 and 7-8 are not used and so gains will be needed to be adjusted for the other two sensors to correctly have knock control on all cylinders.
• Narrowband lambda sensors not used,
• Post cat lambda sensors not used


• Air temperature - used as OEM
• Coolant temperature - used as OEM
• Pedal position channels 1 and 2 - used as OEM
• Throttle body position channels 1 and 2 - used as OEM
• Low pressure fuel system pressure - used as OEM
• Clutch switch - used as OEM
• Vanos triggers and camsync - used as OEM
• Vehicle Speed Sensor Rear Right
• Oil level and temperature sensor
• Radiator temperature sensors - used as OEM
• MAF - available for logging or used for fuel calculation

Options at ordering



Not everyone is going to need or want the same thing with their ECU conversion.

Ignition outputs
• Smart coils - Customer will install logic coils in place of original coil wiring
• Stock coils - BMW coils are retained, also allows B58 coil swaps etc.
